By being kind to yourself, by respecting yourself, you won’t have the need to prove to others how ‘good’ you are by demeaning yourself in any way. True satisfaction of doing good comes from a conscious choice to do good, not from being coerced into it.

Is the action resulting in any feeling of remorse in myself in the other person affected by the action is it producing and enhancing or damaging and destructive. It is very simple and easy to do this test.The problem starts when we start justifying that damage or hurt by reasoning and applying logic and what not.
Avoiding reasoning and going with your first reaction or innate nature becomes difficult due to the conflicting knowledge that is accumulated.
