The Mystery of Death Unveiled

Let me start off this otherwise perceived serious topic with the funny trespassing sign on death :)

Jokes apart, human beings tend to think that at the time of death everything comes to a full stop. They fear that once they die, they would have no connection with the world and their loved ones. It’s like a complete cessation of every single thing they have seen and imagined.

“I’m not afraid of death; I just don’t want to be there when it happens.”

― Woody Allen

Fear of death is deeply ingrained in all creatures. But only human beings can transcend this fear, given their mighty power of understanding. Hundreds of years of developments in science and technology prove that we no longer fear when we discover the truth of something. Fear exists only as long as ignorance exists.

Humanity has time and again attempted to decode death. Due to the vivid imagination power facilitated by the fully evolved frontal cortex, human beings imagined different stories during different eras; from the elixir of life, to the resurrection, to King Solomon’s wisdom, human beings believed all of them to be the reality.

“For God created man to be immortal, and made him to be an image of his own eternity.” -Wisdom of Solomon

From Sages, to Philosophers, to Scientists; they have all contemplated and shared their own theories about death over time. And what is common across all their research is, nobody wants to die unhappy.

In her Bestseller book- “The Top Five Regrets of Dying”, Bronnie Ware mentions these regrets:

  1. “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”
  2. “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.”
  3. “I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.”
  4. “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.”
  5. “I wish that I had let myself be happier.”

These regrets prove that human beings are inherently moral. Social norms that are founded on poor understanding of reality push human beings to act against their innate righteous nature. That said, every human individual is aware of what he is doing. He analyses his whole life at the time of death and repents of his actions.

The way out is, once the social norms (social knowledge repository) are enriched and updated with correct knowledge of life, death, and reality, the society will align with the principles of innate human righteousness.

All religions as well as the ancient spiritual and philosophical texts offer a great deal of literature about the nature of death and the existence of a permanent soul.

The period of progression from birth through death, (what we call life) is an event in the journey of the soul. In other words, death and Birth are incidents in the permanent existence of the soul.

When a child is conceived around three months after the Zygote is formed, the physical body is ready to be adopted by a soul. The soul, which wants to manifest itself, uses the body and the senses to see, feel, and understand reality. Together with the physical body, it becomes a human being.

Today in the scientific world, the hard problem of consciousness is one of the most important enigmas that is being discussed and deliberated on.

Modern Science needs to expand its spectrum, and not limit it to things observable only to the physical eyes. The study will not be complete till the faculties beyond the chemical composition and electric currents that run the brain and the physical body are acknowledged.

The good news is that we are now able to unite these years of findings of religions, philosophies and scientific systems and arrive at a holistic conclusion. We can now understand life, death, and the nature of consciousness with reason and logic. No fancy rituals, or mysterious angels, or any penances. Simple straight forward logic of evolution and how the whole existence is what this philosophy discusses.

Demystifying Death- A Proposal for Evaluation

The analytical disposition of the 21st century has shaped human beings to understand everything in a logical sequence. I am proposing a theory that is holistic, logical, and goes beyond the accepted standards of reasoning. This theory of truth breaks the frontier of logic, for it has certain components that can only be directly experienced.

All physical matter that we see is made up of material atoms. but I am going to share the sacred science of a subtler conscious atom, never understood before in totality. This is what humanity has, since time immemorial, referred to as “Soul”. Something that is beyond the ‘vision magnifying power’ of the material world.

So, the soul is a different kind of conscious atom unlike the material atoms. We can also call it the “life-atom”. The increased oscillation movement of the subatomic particles and the number of particles in the outer ring together make the life-atom weightless, and free of pull and pressure. This is a theory proposed by Philosophy of coexistence which can be understood logically and experienced in everyday living.

The soul or life-atom has definite structure, needs, as well as a fixed role that it plays in the physical material body. The brain processes all data from the various sense organs and the results are evaluated, experienced, and recorded by the soul.

The soul desires to live the magical experiences of the phenomenal world together with other souls in human form. The intrinsic nature of the soul is based on three principles: justness, righteousness, and truthfulness. The life-atom is a never depleting force and it will continue to exist forever.

“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.”

― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Those human individuals having positive experiences, ones who are looked after, and are surrounded by loved ones at the time of their death, die happily free of any sorrows or remorse. These souls instantly adopt a new physical body upon death, wanting to continue the chain of blissful experiences.

Then there are individuals who have suffered psychic wounds. Such souls keep experiencing their painful feelings even after leaving the physical body. They do not wish to be reborn till the experience wanes and dissipates as explained in the above picture.

Other rare cases of accidental deaths where the physical body is deformed, have different effects on souls. We can discuss it in my further posts.

Noam Chomsky in his book “what kind of creatures are we”, has explained how we understand vs what we see. Our cognizance system is much more powerful than the sensory system.

We perceive the gross world that our senses present us and we think that to be the actual representation of reality. But there exists a reality that we understand using logic and cannot decipher using our senses. Say, we see two uniform shaped pieces, one a charcoal and the other a piece of snow of same shape and size. But we are aware that they are two different elements. That is ‘conscious’ intellect and is still not understood by science.

Death takes us to an even subtler level of reality, where the separation of the physical body and the life atom/soul takes place. My theory is about this soul or life-atom.

I would be keen on an open dialogue, deliberation, and discussion on the same. Since this is coming from my direct experience, I would not want to give any last word. I would like to invite everyone to try and experience it personally.

The limit of the language and logic can not restrict the imagination of the reader. It is going to be interesting to see what readers experience at their own comfort and express it into words.

My limitation with words should not restrict your experience, and so I will not be very emphatic or conclusive. I would be eager for everyone to learn and share their experience with others and this knowledge will go into the social cloud for the next generations.

Lastly, understanding life, death, soul, reality, take a dedicated inquiry and study about the nature of reality. Many of these concepts cannot be covered in a single post. Answers to some fundamental questions that might have crossed the readers’ minds after reading this article can be found in these posts I wrote a while ago:

Nature of soul

Being and Existence

What is Death?

I have also posted articles on Space, Work, and Reentry given in this challenge in the context of the coexistence philosophy. I would love to hear from my readers and write on different topics that they share to help people move from delusion to resolution. A baby step in moving towards utopia.
